McDonald’s has been one of the most popular fast food chains in the world for years. The restaurant is also often visited in the Netherlands for a large Big Mac or of course the nostalgic Happy Meal. Although McDonald’s fans in Sneek may now have second thoughts. For example, a now former employee apparently ‘openly’ spit on cookies. Yep, it was indeed featured on a video that ‘accidentally’ went viral on social media. Ew!
McDonald’s employee spits on cookies
Sometimes people joke that angry catering employees spit on their ordered meal. Well, maybe you shouldn’t do that from now on. In some cases the joke can become reality. For example, an employee at McDonald’s in Sneek, a town in Friesland, ‘openly’ spit on a box full of cookies. Wait… what? Yes, the spitting incident can be seen on a video that Hart van Nederland obtained. In it we see a boy spitting into a box of American cookies, after which he casually says: “Hoppa.” Apparently he really enjoyed it himself. Although you can imagine that others are less happy with this.

According to an anonymous tipster, the McDonald’s employee filmed the spitting incident for his friends. However, the video then ‘accidentally’ went viral on the internet. The video has now been removed from social media, but apparently it is too late for the boy in question. His employer has also seen it and they are logically not amused. The fast food chain heard from the boy that he indeed did this as a joke. Only McDonald’s doesn’t find this funny at all. “We see it differently,” a spokesperson tells Hart van Nederland. Of course, it’s not exactly good for their brand reputation.
Dismissed
It is therefore no wonder that the boy has now been fired from McDonald’s. Also, the cookies, which were spit on, were never sold in the fast food restaurant. Other employees saw it happen and responded in time. They had thrown away the spit-up cookies. It is unknown whether the former McDonald’s employee has previously spit on other food. Let’s hope not…
