‘I thought: I really have to have these two artists. So much talent, humor and versatility!’
In October this year it will be time again for a set of dazzling shows by Fred van Leer in Rotterdam’s Ahoy. A few of the guest artists had already been announced, such as Danny de Munk, Belle Perez, and Emma Kok. But now a very special pair has been added to the line-up. A real couple, even!
Fred & Friends
Go go! On October 11 and 12, another wonderful party will be held in Ahoy Rotterdam during the annual Fred & Friends. Last year, Fred van Leer set Ahoy on fire with guest artists such as Ruth Jacott, Diggy Dex, Jamai Loman, Ruth Jacott, Edsilia Rombley, Lee Towers and Anita Meyer.
Ticket sales for this year have already started and it promises to be a huge party on Friday 11 and Saturday 12. Think of singing, dancing, spectacle, glitter, glamor and a whole lot of fun.
New guest artists
Moreover, the organization today announced a special addition to the line-up. None other than Jim Bakkum and Bettina Holwerda will join Fred on stage this fall!
Fred himself says about the couple: “I have known Jim since he was 16, when I first worked with him. Last year I went to Bettina’s performance. And that’s where the penny dropped. I thought: I really have to have these two artists. This couple has so much talent, humor and versatility, it really does.”
Dynamic threesome
In any case, the anticipation is good between the three. Fred reveals: “I’m looking forward to recording great songs with them. We already text back and forth. Delicious.”

Fred greets Bettina with enthusiasm during a ‘coincidental’ walk in ‘t Gooi, and shares his raving enthusiasm about her performance in the musical Grease. When Jim later mentions that he was ‘also in that musical, wasn’t he?’, Fred responds: “Oh really? Nice”, and then continue chatting with Bettina. It is clear that these three together on stage will be a resounding success, non?
