She also immediately has an important announcement.
The Duchess of Kent, Katharine Worsley, is already blowing out 91 candles today. The wife of Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, has retired from her royal duties since 1996. Still, she couldn’t resist making a nice announcement on this festive day.
Future Talent
The Duchess set up a charity with Nicholas Robinson 20 years ago. The institution was named ‘Future Talent’, where talented young musicians from low-income groups can develop into true musicians. The Duchess is very proud of her charity, which is why she knows how to take action. And that ultimately paid off, because Katharine shares big news on the festive day.
Cooperation
Future Talent is now working with the National Children’s Choir of Great Britain. This collaboration ensures that young talented singers from families with a low income can receive a scholarship.
“I am really excited to witness the collaboration of Future Talent and the National Children’s Choir of Great Britain. This collaboration embodies the spirit of inclusivity and accessibility. We have a shared commitment to nurturing musical talents of the future,” said Katharine.
Incognito
Katharine appearing in public on her birthday is quite a special moment. She previously revealed in an interview with the Telegraph that she worked as a music teacher in Hull for 13 years. Since retiring from public life about 20 years ago, she has not used her Her Royal Highness title and has built a very normal life.
“I was just known as Mrs. Knows. Only the principal knew who I was. The parents didn’t know and the students didn’t know. No one ever noticed. There was no publicity about it at all – it just seemed to work. I don’t know why, but it just worked. I taught children from the beginning to the end of primary school.”
