6 benefits you enjoy by sleeping naked

Enough reasons to say goodbye to your pajamas forever.

Sleeping naked, some people do it every night, while others hate it. However, the latter is not necessary, as there are numerous health benefits associated with sleeping without clothes. From a better night’s sleep to reduced stress levels, these are the reasons you might want to consider ditching your pajamas for good.

1. You sleep better

Not only because you won’t wake up from tight pajamas that have not been rotated with you, but because without pajamas your body temperature can drop more easily. A slightly lower body temperature is a prerequisite for a good night’s sleep.

2. You burn more calories

Because you don’t wear pajamas to keep your body warm, your body has to work on its own. To keep your body warm enough, your body activates your brown fat. That costs calories. How many calories cannot be said with certainty, but as an indication: a study published on the New York Times website showed that men who were cold for three hours burned an average of 250 calories. Of course, that doesn’t mean you have to be cold at night, but sleeping without pajamas might make just a little difference.

3. Your lady parts become healthier

If you wear underwear at night, your vagina will become warm and moist more quickly and you will create a great breeding ground for bacteria that can eventually give you a yeast infection. If you want a happy vagina, it is a good idea to let it air out at night.

4. You feel less stressed

If your body can cool down at night, your stress hormone cortisol remains at normal levels. If you lie down and sweat, your cortisol can actually increase. This can lead to feelings of stress, anxiety and hunger attacks, among other things.

5. You’re more likely to have sex

Unfortunately, this only applies to people who sleep together. When your bare skin touches each other, you and your partner both produce oxytocin: the cuddle hormone that makes you less stressed and makes you feel more love for each other, which can lead to more sex. Bonus: this cuddle hormone may also make you sleepier.

6. You feel better in your body

How often do you look at your naked body? And how comfortable do you feel with your body? We usually have something to say about our own body, and too often we feel the need to hide our body. A shame and not necessary. Sleeping naked makes you feel more comfortable in and with your own body, which can increase your self-confidence.
