It’s official: Patrick van Veen and Radboud Visser have tied the knot and are leaving their role as experts at Married at First Sight behind. The news comes as a blow to fans of the controversial program, but what does this actually mean for the future of MAFS?

In a statement to Shownieuws, Patrick said that he had taken a hard look at himself to see whether his work at Married at First Sight was still really his thing. “If the answer is no, you just have to be honest about it,” says Patrick.
‘Other people don’t have to change for me’
Although Patrick initially laid all the blame on the producer of Married at First Sight, he now admits that he can also be difficult to work with. “Maybe I’m also a challenging person to work with. I’m certainly not the easiest, but I do stand up for my field.” For that reason, Patrick is leaving, so that ‘other people don’t have to change for that’.

Despite his departure, Patrick continues to believe in the concept of Married at First Sight. “I’m still a fan of the MAFS concept,” he says. After six seasons of experience, he has a clear idea of what it takes to make a show a success. “But if the collaboration behind the scenes doesn’t work, you just have to be honest,” he adds.

RTL has confirmed that in addition to Patrick, expert Radboud Visser is also leaving the program. “We are grateful for their expertise during the past seasons of Married at First Sight and wish them every success in their next steps,” an RTL spokesperson told ANP. The behavioral biologist played a role in the program for six seasons, while professional matchmaker Radboud appeared for two seasons. Last season they were assisted by sexologist Eveline Stallaart and relationship coach Anne Campagne.
