What a beautiful family!
Frederik and Mary have only been allowed to call themselves king and queen of Denmark for a few days. But of course, a new royal couple also means new portraits! Today Frederik and Mary treated us to some official photos of themselves and the children.
New royal couple
In the photos, published by the Danish royal family, we see the royal couple posing with the children, Crown Prince Frederik, Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine. And of course it looks beautiful!

The photos were taken in the throne room of the palace in Copenhagen, immediately after the change of throne on January 14. Just before this photo was taken, the royal family was still standing on the balcony of the throne room, where the new king addressed the Danish people for the first time.
Of course, a snapshot without the children could not be missed:

Flag Dressing
Nice detail: several experts noticed that Queen Mary and Princess Isabella attempted a strong example of flag dressing together with their red and white outfit. According to the fashion experts at UFO No More, the Danish Billed Bladet has confirmed that Mary’s beautiful white dress is a creation of Soeren Le Schmidt and Birgit Hallstein.
Church service
Last weekend’s Danish abdication was not accompanied by all kinds of bells and whistles. Compared to the grand Coronation of King Charles III in May last year and the inauguration of our own King Willem-Alexander in 2013, everything was quite austere.
But this down-to-earth approach is part of Denmark. Normally a change of throne takes place with the death of the previous monarch, and that is of course not very festive. With her unexpected resignation, Margrethe broke with this Danish tradition for the first time in about 900 years.
After the enthronement and all the ceremonies that came with it, the royal family had a bit of rest in recent days. This Sunday, Frederick’s first week on the throne will end with a church service in Aarhus Cathedral.
