This is how you recognize them.
Do you have a terrible boss and hostile coworkers? Then it may just be that you find yourself in an unhealthy working environment. But instead of accepting it, it’s important that you recognize the signs of a toxic workplace. Why? So that you can deal with it effectively.
3 Signs
1. You will no longer be informed
One of the first warning signs that you are in the middle of a toxic work environment is that communication is going ‘past’ you. If you notice that you are no longer involved in a meeting, it is important that you stand up for yourself and raise this issue. If you don’t do this, you will increasingly be ignored.
2. Others take the credit
You may have experienced it before: you discuss a new idea, to which no one responds enthusiastically, and then someone else runs away with your idea. Colleagues taking credit when it’s your job can be beyond frustrating. It can even be stressful and threaten your career. Learn how to avoid this and focus on your own work. Be proud of your own abilities.
3. You are not treated equally
You’re in a toxic workplace if your boss doesn’t treat you the same as the rest of your coworkers. Fair compensation for the same work and number of hours must be negotiable. Team up with your colleagues, consult with your boss and make the pay gap disappear. Everyone deserves a good salary for a day of hard work.
