European National Parks Day: visit these national parks this weekend

Today is European National Parks Day. Visit one of the following parks. How about the Dolomites in Italy or Jotunheimen in Norway. The choice is huge. Where are you planning to go?

You must visit these national parks

1. Dolomites (Italy)

Italy is and remains a very special holiday destination. The Dolomites are a beautiful nature reserve. This national park consists of a mountainous landscape that brings out the active itch, but also relaxes and fully enjoys the peace and quiet. The Dolomites are the southern part of the Alps. Enjoy the steep rocks, snow-capped peaks, glaciers and green landscapes. The highest point is no less than 3343 meters. This is the mountain top of Marmolada.

2. Jotunheimen (Norway)

Have you ever heard of the Jotunheimen in Norway? This national park is also known as the ‘Home of the Giants’. It does not get this name lightly, because you will find several mountain peaks that reach great heights. For example, Galdhøppigen is the highest mountain in Norway with a height of 2469 m. In addition to the mountain peaks, you will also find waterfalls, rivers, deep lakes and glaciers. A real playground for nature explorers. Have fun in this park by rafting, ice clamming, canoeing, walking or cycling.

3. Teide National Park (Tenerife)

If we talk about the largest island of the Canary Islands, it is Tenerife. As a nature lover, you can explore the natural beauty of Tenerife. There is a lot of nature to be found. The rough side of the island is definitely worth a visit. Think of the volcanic mountain formations full of craters and volcanoes, but also vineyards and rivers. In the spring there are mainly bright colors and in the autumn there are dry plains. The national park will surprise you.

4. Cairngorms National Park (Scotland)

We have already arrived at the Cairngorms National Park. This is located in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. From castles to a beautiful nature reserve. You see rugged rocks and steep cliffs everywhere, but there are also plains filled with flowers. From cycling to canoeing, you can do everything. The national park is really great for nature and sports lovers. There are even a number of local villages nearby with historical sites. Also definitely worth a visit. You don’t get bored.

5. Bavarian Forest (Germany)

You can also find beautiful environments close to home. Just think of Germany. We are talking about the Bavarian Forest. You can start your active holiday with peatlands, protected forests and mountain peaks. There are all kinds of different hiking trails that you can take. This low mountain range runs along the border with the Czech Republic and is one of the most beautiful nature reserves in Germany.
