This is the effect of stress on your body and health

That is not the best.

Of course we all know that stress is not good for you, but do you really know what stress does to your body? We have listed the facts for you.

1. Hair loss
Stress can cause serious hair loss. So is there more hair in your shower drain than normal or do you lose entire tufts of hair while brushing without being ill or taking medication? There is a good chance that stress is the cause.

2. Irregular cycle
Having your period too often, having your period too late, missing your period… Because stress throws your hormones out of balance, this can all be the result of stressful periods. For example, according to a study published in The American Journal of Epimediology, women with stressful careers are 50% more likely to have a short cycle (less than 24 days) than women who are not stressed at work.

3. Extra pounds
The stress hormone cortisol makes you retain fat around your belly button more quickly. At the same time, stress makes you crave fast, bad sugars more, which can cause the pounds to pile on.

4. Heart problems
Stress can negatively affect your heart and blood vessels, leading to high blood pressure, strokes and heart attacks.

5. No desire for sex
When your stress hormones spike, your libido drops. In addition, your head is simply not in the right position if you are too busy in your head.

6. Insomnia
Do you often worry in bed? Stress often has a negative effect on your night’s sleep and a bad night’s sleep makes you more sensitive to stress: a vicious circle that you want to break.

7. Acne and eczema
Under the influence of cortisol, your sebaceous glands can produce more oil, resulting in clogged pores and pimples. Other skin problems that can be caused/exacerbated by stress include eczema, rashes, psoriasis and rosacea.

8. Poor digestion
Your digestive system responds enormously to stress hormones. Anyone who is under a lot of stress may therefore suffer from bloating, constipation, diarrhea, heartburn or nausea.

9. Depression
Those who produce a lot of cortisol produce less of the happiness hormone serotonin. As a result, stress can make you feel more depressed and also more likely to become irritated.

10. Get sick more quickly
Stress weakens your immune system, making you more susceptible to colds, flu and other viruses and diseases. Have you ever noticed that you have headaches more often when you are stressed? That may well be true, because tension headaches are a common phenomenon of stress.
