Raising money for charity is a wonderful thing. Unless you pocket it all, then it’s a complete shame. Especially when you have a big name, such as the Italian influencer Chiara Ferragni (36). She put the money she raised for charity into her own pocket. She received a very high fine for this. Rightly so!
Chiara Ferragni
We know that influencers with a large number of followers sometimes make a lot of money. This also applies to Italian fashion influencer Chiara Ferragni. The world-famous businesswoman has several companies and regularly posts collaborations on her social media from which she is guaranteed to earn money. Chiara started a fundraising campaign for a children’s hospital in Turin, but something didn’t go quite right there.
Money in your own pockets
Chiara pockets part of the fundraising money from the sale of pandoro, an Italian cake that is mainly eaten around the holidays. Omg! The cake was sold last year with the Ferragni logo on it. The children’s hospital in Turin for which the money was intended did not receive part of the money. They only received a one-time donation of 50,000 euros from the cake manufacturer, but they received nothing from Chiara’s companies. Oh dear..
Not on purpose
Chiara posts a video on Instagram in which she explains the situation. According to her, she is innocent because it was all due to a ‘communication error’. But despite her saying this, people are furious with her. Even Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has spoken out about her actions: “Real role models are not the influencers who make money by wearing clothes and showing off bags, or by promoting expensive cakes and making people believe that it is for charity.” is,” says the Prime Minister.
Chiara has still transferred 1 million euros to the children’s hospital, but whether that makes up for it…
