The royal pounds have flown off!
It’s almost King’s Day, which means that King Willem-Alexander can already blow out 57 candles. And although you will experience more and more physical discomfort over the years, our king proves the opposite. WimLex looks fitter than ever.
Fitter than ever
Now that sixty is getting closer, it will not have escaped our king’s notice that you have to work hard to stay fit. And he succeeds quite well! WimLex has waved au revoir to his royal pounds. “I understand that he plays a lot of sports,” said royalty reporter Annemarie de Kunder of RTL Boulevard.
“While we enjoy working out in the gym in the evenings after work, he just does that in between activities. He sometimes goes golfing one afternoon, or he plays tennis on a tennis court at Huis ten Bosch Palace. And they also have a gym underneath the palace, and he can be found there regularly.” Doesn’t sound bad!
Healthy food
But not only exercise is important for the king, nutrition is of course also an important factor in staying fit. “They are cooking for him. I understand that they are shown a weekly menu in advance. Then they can choose what they want to eat that week. It is therefore prepared for them,” said the royalty reporter. “It’s mainly a lot of vegetables. They eat a lot of vegetables. And that is then supplemented with meat or fish.”
Not the only Dutch player who wants to stay fit
However, our king is not the only one of the Dutch who wants to stay fit. His mother, Princess Beatrix, is also very concerned about her health. “Princess Beatrix also wants to stay fit. She recently got a cargo bike, where she puts her dogs and then rides through the woods of Lage Vuursche. She also exercises twice a week and does twenty squats a day to keep her knees flexible.” Phew, maybe we can all learn a royal lesson from this!
