It is a special place where Franz Beckenbauer (✝78) will find his final resting place. On Monday evening the sad news was announced that the football legend had died. Fans and former companions all over the world mourned the loss of the former world champion. Now it’s time to say goodbye to him. Because Franz is buried – in the immediate vicinity of his deceased son.
Bild reports that all arrangements have been made for the emperor’s funeral: several security forces are said to have gathered at Munich’s Perlacher Forst cemetery and the grave has already been dug. Franz should therefore be buried in his parents’ grave. Opposite is the grave of his son Stephan, who died in 2015.
Stephan died of a brain tumor – his father is said to have never come to terms with his death. The former partner of Franz told how the 78-year-old dealt with the stroke of fate. “He was powerless in the face of his son dying, even though he did everything in the world to prevent it from happening. […] The powerlessness that the Franz Having to experience 2015 in such a concentrated way certainly changed him,” recalled Diana Sandmann in the BR documentary “Beckenbauer – Legend of German Football”.
