With the documentary, Céline wants to create awareness about the rare disease she suffers from.
Great news: we can soon watch a documentary about Céline Dion. Amazon MGM Studios has announced that a documentary about the Canadian diva is in the making called I Am: Céline Dion.
Documentary
I Am: Céline Dion is directed by Oscar-nominated director Irene Taylor. According to a press release, the documentary takes us into the life of ‘one of the most recognized, respected and successful artists in pop music history’. The film will be about her successful career as a singer, but also about the health problems she is currently facing.
Rare disease
Céline suffers from the rare neurological disorder stiff-person syndrome, which has prevented her from appearing on stage for quite some time. “The past few years have been an enormous challenge for me,” she says in the press release. “Because of the journey from discovering my condition to learning to live and manage it, but not let it define me.”
“As I try to restart my performing career, I realize how much I have missed seeing my fans,” said the Canadian singer. “During this absence, I decided I wanted to document this part of my life to raise awareness about this unknown condition and help others who have also been diagnosed with this condition.”
Health update
The arrival of the documentary seems to be a bright spot in the difficult road that Céline has taken recently. Things seemed to be getting worse and worse for the singer. In conversation with the Canadian site 7 Jours, sister Claudette recently explained that Céline has no control over her muscles. “What hurts me is that she has always been disciplined. She has always worked hard. My mom always told her, ‘You’re going to do this well.’”
It is not yet known when the documentary will be shown on Prime Video, but we suspect that it will not be very long. We are looking forward to!
