1. The right timing

Perhaps a bit obvious, but you really have to book on time, especially if you are stuck with school holidays or the construction period. Make sure you ask for time off for the rest of your colleagues so that you don’t get in a pinch, and then book immediately when you have been given leave. Are you not committed to a certain period? Then it is best to book something via Airbnb in September. Do you prefer to live in the moment and are you someone who likes to book last minute? Then Airbnb recommends booking at least a week in advance: for example, book at the end of September for the autumn holiday, or at the end of June for the summer holiday.

2. Filter ‘New’

The very latest Airbnbs can be found in the ‘new’ category. Here you can find the accommodations that have come online in the past ten weeks, where landlords are mainly looking for many tenants. This way they get more reviews and the accommodation becomes better known. They also charge attractive prices for this, so you have to pay less for the quality you want. So win-win.

3. Private rooms on Airbnb

We understand very well that an apartment or even an entire house is wonderful, but this is not always necessary. Especially if you expect to be out and about a lot during the trip, a private room is more than enough. In addition, you can make more contact with your host, a local, where you can get many more local tips and recommendations for cafes, sights and other highlights that you will not easily find on the internet.

4. Ask for a discount

The very best love hack is asking for a discount. On Airbnb you can send a discount request, which the host can agree to. If they agree, you have 24 hours to claim the offer and pay the new price. You also often get a discount if you stay longer as a tenant, such as a month or even longer. Or when you book very far or very shortly in advance.
