Since the moment Joost Klein was disqualified during the Eurovision Song Contest, more and more stories about him have emerged. It wouldn’t be the first time that Joost got out of control. Now an incident from his high school days surfaces. He was allegedly expelled from a school trip abroad due to rebellious behavior.

Incident Joost Klein
The daughter of an editor of the Leeuwarden Courant went on a school trip to Rome, where Joost also went. Joost was already vlogging in his high school years and during this trip he also regularly took his camera with him. His teachers were not really happy about this at the time. “I received a warning and after another incident I was sent away,” Joost said at the time. He vlogged this incident: “Since then I had the feeling: it’s me against the school system.” Could this have always been in him, or are we just dealing with a rebellious teenager here?
Inappropriate behavior
The director of the Europapa video clip, Véras Fawaz, says in the podcast The Bigger Picture that Joost attacked an employee several times during the recording of the Europapa video clip. Somehow Véras expected things to go wrong at the Eurovision Song Contest, given the difficult collaboration experience.
Véras says in the podcast: “He talks about this in a podcast: “Making the Europapa clip cost me about a month and a half of my life and I didn’t earn anything from it. Making a music video only costs money. Then you also have to recognize the value of the people who do it for you. You simply cannot shout at an assistant director who is on the set for zero euros, I also said that to Joost.”
Disqualification
Joost Klein was disqualified just before the final of the Eurovision Song Contest. He allegedly made a ‘threatening movement’ towards the camera woman. She would film him (unsolicited), even though he had indicated that he did not want to. He would not have touched the woman. The incident is now no longer a hot topic and Joost is focusing on his own music again. He has also performed at a festival in Groningen and we see him again on the socials.
