The Queen’s former secretary sharply criticizes “The Crown”.

The Queen

He is not very convinced by the presentation! Last week, the successful format The Crown came to an end with its sixth season. The focus of the series is Queen Elizabeth (✝96). Three actresses played the monarch at different stages of her life: Claire Foy (39), Olivia Colman (49) and Imelda Staunton (67). But a former confidante of the Queen isn’t a big fan of how she’s portrayed in the series.

Dickie Arbiter was the Queen’s press secretary throughout her life. He told Deadline that he followed the Netflix series with great interest. But the interpretation of Olivia and Imelda was inappropriate. “I don’t remember them being grumpy and boring. Grumpy when there was a death in the family or a dog had to be put down, but they acted grumpy the whole time,” he criticizes. Clairewho played the young Elizabeth, was “brilliant”.

But not only with the portrayal of the queen Dickie his difficulties. Dealing with the death of Princess Diana (✝36) was also not always implemented appropriately for him – especially with regard to Prince Charles (Dominic West, 54) and his sons. “The sequence in which Charles tells his sons about their mother’s death was so insensitive, so unnecessary. Their mother’s death is still very present to both of them,” he says angrily.
