Create a nice evening routine

The best way to get yourself used to going to bed on time is to have a nice evening routine. This will help you get used to the steps you take before going to sleep and also make you sleepy more easily. You can also add relaxing activities to your routine to get into the right mindset. Think of meditating, journaling, taking a bath or shower and so on. The point is to build a routine that ensures that your brain associates these activities with sleep. Then you naturally get tired while doing these things.

Make your bedroom a relaxing environment

Your bedroom should actually be a place that you only associate with two things: sleeping and intimacy. To get yourself in the mood for sleep, it’s good if your bedroom also feels relaxing. For example, make sure that your bedroom can become dark and that there are few distractions.

Avoid caffeine in the evening and late afternoon

If you want to go to bed on time, it is not wise to drink a cup of coffee in the evening. The caffeine remains in your body for several hours, which can prevent you from becoming tired. So save your cup of coffee for the morning and opt for caffeine-free in the afternoon and evening.

Be aware of blue light exposure

Blue light is the type of light that our phones, tablets and laptops emit. This type of light hinders our sleep rhythm because it postpones the production of a certain hormone. And let this be the hormone that makes you tired. If you find it difficult to fall asleep, it is definitely an idea to put your phone away a little earlier.

Go to bed around the same time every night and really stick to it

The most important step in this process is setting a bedtime and actually sticking to it. This is the way you will ultimately achieve your goal. After a while, your body will get used to your new bedtime. You will notice that around that time you already start to feel tired. But it will be a bit more difficult in the beginning. Hold on!
