The newlyweds are clearly very happy!
In addition to the abdication of Queen Margrethe, there was another important royal event on the agenda today. A grand wedding ceremony took place in Brunei between Prince Abdul Mateen and his great love, Her Highness Anisha Roshah Binti Adam.
Wedding marathon
In total, the wedding of the princely couple lasts no less than ten days. The ceremonies started on January 7 with the official proposal, and the traditional powder ceremony was scheduled for January 10. This was followed by a religious blessing attended by Prince Abdul.
However, today was the first time that we saw the bridal couple together during the ‘Majlis Istiadat Bersanding Pengantin Diraja’, a grand bridal ceremony in the sultan’s palace (decorated in gold and marble). And that was of course accompanied by just as much opulence and jewelery as you would expect from one of the richest royal houses in the world!
All love
Today’s ceremony is the culmination of the ten-day series of celebrations, and a lot of effort was put into it. The new couple were officially presented as spouses for the first time. Many loving looks were exchanged back and forth! Particularly sweet and quite unique for the Brunei ‘prince dream’, who prefers to present himself as cool as possible on his Instagram.

Several highnesses from surrounding countries were also present at the ceremony. For example, images include King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk and Queen Jetsun Pema of Bhutan and the Malaysian Sultan Abdullah and his wife Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah. In addition, the Indonesian and Philippine presidents were present, as well as the prime ministers of Singapore and Malaysia. There were also, of course, a large number of local prominent figures and dignitaries of the party.

A festive procession through the capital Bandar Seri Begawan was then scheduled, during which the couple was greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

The images clearly show that the newlyweds radiate happiness…and an impressive load of precious metals and diamonds. Heurt is there of course, as a radiant princely couple.
The final work
After the ceremony at the Istana Nurul Iman today, the end of the wedding marathon is finally in sight, and the couple can focus on their life together. Tomorrow there will be another large banquet, and on Monday the ten-day event will conclude with a prayer and drumming ceremony.
In any case, Glamial wishes the radiant bridal couple a very long and happy life together!
