Letizia’s seat had a particularly good reason.
In addition to all the royal glamor and that beautiful debut of Crown Princess Amalia at the state banquet last week, one thing stood out: Queen Letizia had arranged a seat when receiving the guests. If you’re also wondering how that works, – pun intended – we’ll explain!
Reception
During a state visit, many hands are shaken. From enthusiastic crowds to endless rows of prominent figures: it spontaneously gives us a paralyzed arm. There’s also a bit of spice going on at a state banquet. Before speeches and dining can take place, the guests must of course be suitably welcomed.
And for many royal ladies, that means: standing tall in your sky-high stilettos! In that sense, Queen Letizia did better with her chair last Wednesday. Perhaps a thorn in the side for protocol fanatics, but there is reportedly a very good reason behind it.
Medical condition
For example, we previously wrote about Leti’s ‘special’ habit of regularly wearing flat shoes. From sturdy chunky loafers to lovely ballerinas or summer sandals: the doña has a large selection of footwear with a minimal heel in her wardrobe.
According to the Spanish daily El Mundo, the queen has chronic metatarsalgia in both feet and a Morton neuroma in her right foot. Does this mean nothing to you? Don’t worry, we had to do some Googling too. But the bottom line is that she suffers from a sharp pain in the balls of her feet, combined with a pinched nerve. Aw…
These complaints are most likely the result of, you guessed it, walking too much in high heels. After a thorough medical examination, a specialist reportedly advised Reina to leave her stilettos in the closet more often. And according to the newspaper, that is the reason why Leti increasingly wears flat shoes. More than sensible of course!
Seating area
Despite the floor-length gala gown, the experts at royal fashion website UFO No More managed to spot that the Spanish majesty had conjured up another set of impressive heels from her suitcase – reportedly these Martinelli pumps with a big heel and a large platform . Although the label’s website states that these stilts are fully equipped (gel sole, foam layer, handy buckle, you name it), it is better not to take any risks with such a nasty condition on your feet. .
Hopefully la reina can recover from the busy program this week with her feet up in the coming days!
