His fans will probably have to do without him in the near future. He became a darts player under his nickname Mighty Mike Michael van Gerwen famous. At just 24 years old, the Dutchman took first place at a PDC World Championship in 2014 and took home the title again in 2017 and 2019. Currently stands Michael back in front of the dartboard for this year’s World Darts Championship. But after the exciting tournament Michael probably out for a while…
The reason for this is an operation on his teeth that the 34-year-old had to undergo in the summer. “I’m not even finished yet. I’m not even halfway done. I’m going to have an operation where they’re going to break my upper and lower jaw. They’re going to be placed right on top of each other,” the three-time world champion now explains, according to The Sun. So far it has been Michaels Upper jaw “much smaller” than the lower jaw. That’s why Michael will probably miss the World Series of Darts in Australia next year.
Currently suffering Michael still very low. “I can’t even bite into a slice of ham properly. And because my upper jaw is too small, you get less oxygen through your nose. That causes headaches. Less sleep. Things like that,” he also explains. However, he had to plan the operations well in advance due to his busy schedule. “There are no other options,” so Michael.
