A good dose of glamour!
The new year has started, and that means that there are plenty of award ceremonies planned for the coming period. The awards season got off to a spectacular start yesterday with the Golden Globes, where the crème de la crème of Hollywood and surrounding areas were honored. But in addition to all those shiny globes, we were of course also very curious about all the splendor on the red carpet. We list our favorites.
Endless couture
Glittering robes, a good dose of jewelry and a perfect layer of make-up – Glamial loves a nice red carpet moment. Standing out among all that splendor can be quite a challenge, but actress Natasha Lyonne still manages to do it. She stands out (not by head, but by shoulders) above those present in her Schiaparelli dress. Her stylists give a unique insight into this look via Instagram.

This haute couture appearance on the red carpet clearly involves a lot of beading and DIY work, but let’s be honest: it was worth it, nun?
The Crown actress Elizabeth Debicki also showed up at the event in a custom couture outfit. She wore a silver Dior dress that was studded with sequins from head to toe.

She then received her award for Best Supporting Female Actor – Television, beaming royally. She won this award with her portrayal of Princess Diana in the final season of Netflix’s extremely popular royal drama series.
Barbie pink and perfect purple
Of course, it was all pink last summer, when Barbie craze was at its height. We also saw a number of sugar-sweet pink dresses on the red carpet yesterday.
There was of course Margot Robbie in her radiant pink glittery dress, which was inspired by the special ‘Superstar Barbie’ from 1997.
And diva Jennifer Lopez also showed up in candy pink, in a rose-adorned dress from label Nicole + Felicia.
With her pink outfit she also combined two current trends: the rosette trend and Barbiecore. She finished it off with a crystal clutch (also in pink) and diamond earrings (yes, also in pink).
If anyone has put a lot of thought into her look, it’s Oprah Winfrey. The producer of the film The Color Purple himself also wore – yes – the color purple. Oprah wore a Louis Vuitton dress, which, according to the presenter and producer, took 600 (!) hours of work, with matching purple shoes.
Dame Helen Mirren also combined sugary pink and pastel purple for a glamorous outfit:
This time she didn’t match her silver cut with the rest of her outfit – but with those silver peep-toe pumps everything is perfectly coordinated!
And the winner is…
As much as we like the outfits, the evening was of course about honoring the absolute top performances in films and series. It will come as no surprise that the Barbie and Oppenheimer films were the evening’s top contenders. Ultimately, Oppenheimer, a film about the spiritual father of the atomic bomb, became the big winner! Lead actor Cillian Murphy won a Golden Globe for best male actor in a drama film. Colleague Robert Downey Jr. took home the statuette for best supporting actor. Christopher Nolan, the film’s director, also received an award: for best director.
Of course, the film Barbie did not go home without prizes. They received the Golden Globe for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. In addition, Greta Gerwig’s film won prizes for the song What Was I Made For by singer Billie Eilish. Lead actress Margot Robbie missed out on the statue for best actress in a comedy. That went to Emma Stone for her role in Poor Things.
