Getting a piercing in the summer or not?
In the summer, body piercings are often much more visible than in the winter. It is therefore logical that you decide to get a piercing around the summer period, because you will see it immediately. But is it actually wise to do that? We have the redeeming answer for you.
To get straight to the point: it is possible to have your piercing done in the summer, but it may not be very smart. There are several factors that play a role in this. The greatest risk with a piercing is if it has not yet fully healed. You should actually view it as an open wound that has direct access to the body.
Sun, sea and beach
When temperatures are warm, we prefer to lie on the beach or by the pool all day, tanning. An occasional nice dip in the sea or the bath and our day is a success. With a newly pierced piercing it is actually important that you do not do all these things. During the healing time of, for example, a navel and nipple piercing (3-9 months), you are not allowed to take a bath, a sauna/steam bath or swim in a swimming pool or the sea. Oh dear! You also have to be careful with the sun. Some piercings can bend or expand due to heat, and this is absolutely not desirable during a healing period. Also be careful with sand and dirty surfaces where you lie down. Bacteria can be found everywhere and oh woe, if they crawl into your open wound…
Infections
Your biggest fear when you just get a piercing is that it will become infected. This may even require you to take out your piercing or take antibiotics. It hurts terribly and it doesn’t look very nice either. Our advice is actually to have a new piercing done well before the summer. This way, the wound can heal properly and you can then lie on the beach without any worries. Would you really like to stroll around with a piercing in the summer? For example, choose to buy a fake piercing. Then you look beautiful and you have no chance of nasty infections.
