Oh dear! Things are not going completely smoothly in Malmö. During the first rehearsals of the final of the Eurovision Song Contest, Joost Klein is not allowed to rehearse.
Joost Klein is not allowed to rehearse
It is an exciting time for Joost. After his fantastic performance in the semi-final yesterday, he has qualified for the final of the Eurovision Song Contest. Great news, but something doesn’t seem to be going quite right now. Today there are important rehearsals planned for the big day and Joost was supposed to perform fifth, but the Netherlands was surprisingly skipped during these rehearsals.
Eden Golan instead of Joost
Instead of Joost, singer Eden Golan appeared on behalf of Israel, who should actually have performed after Joost and his Europapa. Crazy, right? Especially because Joost was featured during the opening of the show…
No explanation
After Israel the show continued with Lithuania. The organization has not yet provided an explanation for the change. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has announced that an investigation will be launched into the incident involving Joost Klein. But for the time being, Joost is no longer allowed to rehearse, they say.
Investigation into an incident
AVROTROS has confirmed that the EBU is conducting an investigation into an incident. “We await the results of this investigation and will not provide any further information until then.” The second rehearsal on Friday evening is of great importance, as the international juries decide on the basis of this show which countries they will award points to. These votes count for half on Saturday. The other half is determined by the audience.
