‘Parasite’ creator calls for investigation into Lee Sun-Kyun’s death

Lee Sun-kyun (✝48) was found dead in his car at the end of last year. There is speculation that the actor’s sudden death could have been a suicide. The South Korean is known for the Oscar-winning film “Parasite”. Bong Joon-ho (54). The director now stands up for his colleague. Joon-ho has formed a group with other artists to get an investigation rolling!

Joon-ho’s cultural activists are calling for an investigation into the police’s behavior. This published confidential information against the wishes of the family, including a farewell letter from the actor. “We demand the truth about whether police were lawful in releasing the late actor’s recordings to the press,” they said in a statement, according to Deadline. The group plans to urge political leaders to “revise the law to protect the human rights of artists.” The aim is to prevent further victims after Sun-kyun’s death.

Immediately before his death, the actor came into conflict with the South Korean police. He was investigated for illegal drug possession, but Sun-kyun claimed he was tricked. He felt very pressured by the allegations and the intensive reporting.
