After a short break to care for Kate, Wills will be back to work tomorrow.
It will not have escaped anyone’s attention that Prince William has been conspicuously absent in recent weeks. Logically, of course, given the sad news that came out on March 22 about Princess Kate’s cancer diagnosis. From the moment the princess herself announced the news, William’s royal duties were also put on hold. After about four weeks of radio silence, Kensington Palace announced yesterday that William will resume his duties next Thursday.
Time for family
The Prince of Wales has been caring for the children and his wife in recent weeks. After the devastating news that Princess Kate has cancer, we can imagine that the family needed some time together. Before the news about Kate came out, many speculations were swirling. All this attention must have made it extra difficult for the royal family.
The children were at home for a period, and in the meantime Kate started preventive chemotherapy treatment. This of course has an impact on the family situation, which is why the caring prince stayed at home.
Back to work
William will resume his duties on Thursday, April 18, Kensington Palace announced yesterday. His work will start with a visit to Surrey, in the south-east of England. The aim of the visit is to ‘highlight the work of community and environmental impact organisations’.
The day will start at the charity Surplus to Supper, which distributes food to people and organizations in need. The prince will not only take a look there, but will also roll up his sleeves in the kitchen. Next in line, William will visit a youth center where these food parcels often end up. “Protecting the environment for future generations is one of the most important priorities for the Prince of Wales,” Kensington Palace said in a statement.
We can imagine that it will not be easy for Prince William to focus on his royal duties during this period. Hopefully his return as a working royal means that Kate is on the mend again!
