The princess’s iconic outfits can still be admired before they are auctioned.
Princess Diana’s popularity has always extended beyond the borders of her native country. Even after her death in a tragic accident in Paris in 1977, the princess has not been forgotten. With the release of The Crown, the princess won even more hearts, including among the younger generations. In addition to her turbulent life, her iconic outfits are also a much-discussed topic – and a number of beautiful items from them are now going under the hammer.
Unique designs
There is worldwide interest in the collection. The preview at K11 MUSEA in Hong Kong includes the yellow suit designed by Catherine Walker, which Diana wore when she visited the former British colony in 1989. The beautiful yellow set with distinctive shoulder pads and large, gold-colored buttons is estimated to sell for around $30,000 to $50,000. That is a lot of money, but certainly not the most expensive item that will be auctioned.
In fact, it is only a pittance compared to the expected yield of the fantastic dark blue tulle dress with stars, which the princess wore in 1986 to the premiere of Phantom of the Opera in London’s West End music district. The dress was designed by Murray Arbeid and is estimated to be worth around $200,000 to $400,000. Bon prize, nun?
Of course, the Princess of Wales’s favorite handbags, shoes and accessories should not be missed. After all, no one wore a tie or scarf in their hair better than Diana. This will include the emerald green Kurt Geiger evening shoes and the leather violet-colored Rayne clutch.
Julien’s Auctions
The collection will be on display in the Chinese metropolis until April 29. The collection will then move to the Irish Museum of Style Icons in Newbridge, before the garments will be auctioned by auction house Julien’s Auctions on June 27. It is an honor that the auction house can offer the items to enthusiasts. “She made a fashion statement every time she dressed up and went out,” said Martin Nolan, director of Julien’s Auctions.
