“She is doing well – slowly but surely,” the loving husband said.
Earlier this week, Princess Anne ended up in hospital following an incident that took place in Gatcombe Park on Sunday evening. The royal has taken a break from work for at least a week and now her loving husband Sir Tim Laurence is giving an update on Anne’s health.
Accident
Princess Anne is currently in hospital with minor injuries and a concussion following an accident. Hello! Magazine reported that Princess Anne was walking on her estate when the incident occurred. While the exact cause of her injuries has not been confirmed, her medical team did reveal that her head injuries were consistent with the possible impact of a horse’s head or legs. After the incident, the emergency services were quickly on the scene and after a medical check, Anne was transferred to Southmead Hospital in Bristol
Due to her injuries, the princess will miss a host of royal events. For the coming week, the daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth had to cancel at least eight appointments in London, Hampshire and Edinburgh, among others.
Update
On Tuesday afternoon, Sir Timothy Laurence visited his wife at Southmead Hospital, reportedly to have lunch together. As he left through the main entrance of the hospital around 2pm, the loving husband said: “She is doing well – slowly but surely.” When asked if he had brought anything for the Princess Royal, Sir Tim replied: “Just a few little treats from home.” He was carrying something that looked like a cooler bag.
Anne’s supporter added: “We are both extremely grateful to the hospital’s medical team and support staff for their expert care, and are pleased that emergency services arrived so quickly. We have been deeply touched by all the kind messages we have received from so many people near and far.”
Work cancelled
Due to the incident, the princess had to cancel a large part of her work. For example, she was not present at the lavish state banquet for the Japanese imperial couple and she will not fly to Canada for her tour at the end of this week. However, the government of the North American country is investigating how its planned activities on Sunday and Monday could be adjusted so that the princess can still carry them out.
She also canceled the Commonwealth Agricultural Conference in Edinburgh last Tuesday and the opening of a renovated clubhouse at Warsash Sailing Club in Hampshire for today.
