Spoiler: no nail polish involved this time!
Tights are the perfect solution if you want to wear dresses and skirts in autumn and winter without your legs freezing off. The only disadvantage is that they are full of ladders at all times. We therefore share how to ensure that your tights last as long as possible.
Ladder alert
Anyone who has ever worn tights knows how annoying it can be when there is a ladder in them. You’re on your guard all day long to keep your tights as safe as possible, because let’s face it: torn tights are a real downer if you show up in your most beautiful dress and fanciest heels. When a ladder does appear, many people reach for nail polish to ensure that the ladder does not move any further. However, this is not the solution. After all, prevention is better than cure – and you also have more nail polish left over for its original purpose!
What should you do then? Freeze your pantyhose! It sounds strange and takes quite a bit of time, but it works. If you have bought new pantyhose, dampen them under the tap, put the pantyhose in a plastic bag and put it in the freezer. Leave the tights in there overnight and then hang them out.
Freezer
The cold temperature of the freezer makes the fibers of your tights a lot stronger, so they are less likely to get stuck. Useful!
This may have solved one of the pantyhose struggles, but how do you ensure that your pantyhose stay in place all day? You don’t have to purchase royalty-approved tights, but you do need to purchase extra underwear. Huh? Yes! By putting on extra underwear over your tights, you ensure that they do not fall down.
This trick works best with tight underwear. It may not look very fancy, but with a skirt or dress over it, no one has to see it. And you will benefit from it all day long.
