After her guest roles in Friends and The Vicar of Dibley, Sarah Ferguson has recently been spotted in the film An American in Austen. In it she plays The Duchess in the Netherfield Ball scene. The film is an adaptation of the popular Pride and Prejudice.
The Duchess
In the film we follow the American librarian Harriet, who thinks that no man can match Mr. Darcy (character from Pride and Prejudice, ed.). But when someone surprises her with a proposal, she runs away. She gets into the taxi home, but accidentally falls asleep. When she wakes up, she finds that she is not at home, but in the Jane Austen classic.
In the film, Sarah appears as ‘the Duchess’ in the Netherfield Ball scene. She is dressed in a beautiful charcoal gray dress with long sleeves. And she can also act like the best! You can see the scene in which Fergie appears here.
Skin cancer
Sarah’s surprise appearance came a few weeks after the sad news emerged that she had been diagnosed with skin cancer. “I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023, and this year I was diagnosed with melanoma – an aggressive form of skin cancer. And if my doctors had not been so careful, my situation could have been much worse,” said Fergie.
“It’s been a busy 2023 and I almost postponed my mammogram, but my sister Jane convinced me to go anyway,” she continued in her post. “After having a mastectomy and reconstruction, all I could do was hope that I had nothing. That is why the new diagnosis of skin cancer came as a shock.”
