Useful!
While luxurious Christmas dinners are currently being prepared in the rest of the world, the majority of Dutch people simply bring the gourmet set out of the attic again. No matter how fancy 6-course dinners are, gourmet food remains a favorite. The only disadvantage, however, is that your party clothes will no longer smell as fresh afterwards as they did at the beginning of the evening. Fortunately, we have a few handy tips to get rid of that nasty smell in no time!
To wash
First you can of course wash your clothes. In the best case this is already sufficient. Use a nice-smelling detergent so that the gourmet smell makes way for the scent of your favorite detergent. For example, are you allergic to perfumed detergent and do you still smell the gourmet scent after washing? Fortunately, there are more solutions to get rid of the smell.
Baking soda
Baking soda is a handy solution for when you don’t have time to wash your clothes, for example. It is an effective way to get rid of the gourmet smell in your clothes. Proceed as follows: lay out the clothes, sprinkle the baking soda over them and let it sit for a few hours. Rinse, dry and if all goes well, the fabric will now smell nice and fresh again! Another option is to put the clothes in a bag of baking soda. Just shake, let it sit for ten minutes, rinse and you’re done!
Dryer sheets
Dryer sheets are also ideal for getting the gourmet smell out of your clothes. Put the clothes in the dryer (if you can handle it) and add a dryer sheet. Let it run for ten minutes and your clothes should smell nice and fresh again!
Steaming
Another option may not be convenient for everyone. Do you have a steamer at home? Then you can also remove the gourmet smell from your clothes instead of using the washing machine. The steam makes the smell disappear like snow in the sun. Yet another option; hang your clothes in the bathroom while showering. This way you also steam it a bit.
