Having full phone storage is annoying. You may therefore encounter problems such as no longer being able to update your phone. Would you like to properly clean out your storage? These are the most unexpected ways to do this.
Your viewing history on TikTok
TikTok is an app that takes up a lot of space. And the more you use the app, the more data it stores. The app even keeps track of your viewing history and you can view it. Deleting your viewing history can free up a huge amount of space. We therefore definitely recommend doing this once in a while. In the app, go to your Settings on your phone and then click on ‘viewing history’. Here you will then be given the option to select and delete the entire history.
Uninstall and redownload apps
Besides TikToks, there are a lot of other apps that take up a lot of space. Consider Facebook, for example. This app needs to store a lot of data to continue working properly. Think of text, photos and videos. To free up space, you can delete the app and then download it again. Once you are logged in again, the app will work as before. Only now all that extra storage space is free again!
Delete your search history in your web browser
We think it is always wise to delete your search history every once in a while. This not only prevents others from accidentally seeing that you have looked up the spelling of the same word five times, but also prevents your phone from becoming unnecessarily full. On your iPhone, go to your settings and then go to the browser you use, Safari for example. Here you can delete your entire history.
Have text messages automatically deleted
We don’t text very much these days. Of course, we mainly use WhatsApp these days. But you still need the app. Here you will receive, for example, verification codes or updates about packages you have ordered. These text messages can pile up and take up much more space than you might think. To prevent this, you can set your messages to be deleted after a certain time in your Settings. You then select in the settings how long you want messages to be kept. You can then choose between forever, a year or thirty days. Choose thirty days to regularly clean out your storage space.
‘Offload’ your apps
Do you have apps that you don’t want to delete? Then choose to have your phone ‘offload’ them when you are not using them. This means they remain on your home screen, but no longer take up space. You can then easily download them again when you need them again. But in the meantime, they don’t take up unnecessary space. Make sure that important apps are not deleted. For example, you will soon miss a Klarna payment.
