It must have been a special time for the girl group.
From 1996 to 2000 they were suddenly everywhere: the Spice Girls seemed to pretty much take over the entire world during that period. The girl group traveled a bit during that time, and that of course led to some adventures. In conversation with The Times, Mel B now opens up about this.
In bed together
A dream destination? Of course, you no longer have that if you have been part of the most famous girl group of all time and traveled around the world for that. “I went almost everywhere with the Spice Girls, so I don’t have much on my bucket list anymore,” Mel B honestly admits when The Times asks her about this. “We went to some great places like Bali and Fiji. We always ended up in the same bed, even though we all had our own room,” the singer reveals.
It didn’t stop at just lounging in bed: the girls did the craziest things together on tour, says Melanie Brown. “Room service would be brought out, usually by a man, and one of us – usually me – would pretend to drop her towel. He didn’t know where to look. We were always up for those kinds of jokes.”
Reunion
In 2024 it will be exactly thirty years ago that Melanie Brown, Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Melanie Chisholm and Geri Halliwell became known as the Spice Girls. A great opportunity to have a reunion and give a performance together – at least that’s what four of the five girls thought. Victoria declined at first, but recently it seemed that she too would like a reunion party.
According to a source from The Sun, the Spice Girls will perform a complete reunion performance in the coming year. “In recent years, the Spice Girls have still been working together on a day-to-day basis, but now Victoria appears to be joining in for the first time in a long time to celebrate thirty years of girl power,” the source said. “The group is in discussions with Glastonbury and this would fit in with Victoria’s ‘cool’ aesthetic. And of course David (Beckham, ed.) and their children would love it.” Let’s hope the girls make a comeback next year!
