Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke had a special day ahead of her last Wednesday. For example, she received an award during a ceremony at Windsor Castle, together with her mother Jennifer.

The actress and her mother came face to face with Prince William last Wednesday. Mother and daughter were appointed ‘Member of the Order of the British Empire’. Clarke and her mother co-founded the organization SameYou, a charity to help people with brain damage. The two founded the organization after the actress herself suffered two brain hemorrhages.

The icing on the cake
According to the actress, this award is ‘the icing on the cake’. “I’m in the picture with the ribbon and people will ask: why is this person, who we know, getting this award? Then I can say: that is for the recovery of brain damage,” says Clarke.
The actress has suffered no fewer than two brain hemorrhages. In 2011, during the first filming of Games of Thrones, Clarke suffered a brain haemorrhage for the first time. She ultimately had to lie on the operating table for three hours. Yet disaster struck again. By the time they finished season three of the hit series, the brain clots had doubled, forcing her to go back under the knife. After these intense experiences, she decided to set up a charity, SameYou, together with her mother. And that hard work has now led to a beautiful ribbon for the palace. Cheers!
