Busy busy busy
Although it varies slightly from country to country what exactly is on the average royal’s agenda, there are of course the necessary comparisons to be made. For example, the various royal families of Europe generally keep track of when members of the royal family make an appearance here or there. From state banquets to chatting with the locals: everything is recorded.
The fashion-loving royalty experts behind UFO No More also keep track of their own figures, just like every year. For example, they state: “We hope that information about how many days in the year these families work will help provide more context to the total costs in the annual prices overview.”
But what else does this show? One royal family is significantly busier than the other. And so our Oranges don’t come out very well.

The royals who have performed by far the most public duties? According to the census, these are the Swedes and the Spaniards. For example, the Zwoyals lead the way with 218 public appearances, and the Casa Real follows closely with 213 working days in 2023.
It should be mentioned that the count of Swedish royals includes no fewer than seven people, compared to five working royals from Spain.
Just under 200 days in the spotlight we find the Norwegians, with 198 days worked by six members of the Kongehuset. Of the Windsors, only the Waleses and the Edinburghs are included in the comparison, and together they account for 195 days of public appearances.
This is followed by the Danes, who have appeared in public 191 times in 2023. Of course, Queen Margrethe in particular was out of action for a long time at the beginning of 2023, due to the back operation she had to undergo.

Some royals’ agendas remained noticeably emptier. For example, in 2023, the Belgian royals only appeared for 173 days, Albert and Charlene of Monaco only appeared for 172 days, and the Grand Ducal family of Luxembourg made a public appearance for 166 days.
And at the very bottom of the count? That’s where we find our Oranges. They undertook various public tasks on a total of 162 days. This makes them the bottom of this quick count. Aiii….
By head of state
Of course, as mentioned, one royal house is larger than the other. While the Swedish King Carl Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia and Princess Madeleine are represented in this calculation with no fewer than seven royals, only King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of our own Royal House are represented. , Princess Amalia and Princess Beatrix included in the figures.
