Chantal Janzen can now write a glorious career to her name. She shines night after night on stage and on television. The multi-talented can sing, present, act and also turns out to be a very good television producer. She is also the mother of no fewer than five (bonus) children and has a handsome man by her side. But who is her partner anyway?
Back to the beginning
Chantal Janzen meets the love of her life during her adolescence. Marco Geeratz and Chantal both grew up in Tegelen, Limburg. However, she owes it all to her older brother Roger that Marco comes her way. At one point Chantal left for Amsterdam to pursue her dream of making musicals. In the meantime, Marco continued to work on his career as an entrepreneur.
Happy in love
The two met each other by chance in the Dutch capital in 2006, and it was immediately love at first sight. Without anyone knowing, the lovebirds secretly pursued their feelings: and it turned out to be true love. Still, it took some getting used to for Chantal in the beginning, as Marco already has three children from a previous relationship: Esmée, Isaa and Zion. “As a 16-year-old, I even looked after Esmée for an hour,” Chantal said in an interview in JAN a few years ago. Still, her three bonus children have a special place in her heart. In 2009, the love between Marco and Chantal was sealed with the arrival of a son James, who is now fourteen years old. A few years later, son Bobby, the fifth child in the mixed family, completed the picture.
The two lovebirds tied the knot in 2014 and got married in London, which Chantal always dreamed of. It is clear that the handsome man is romantic.
Out of the spotlight
Although we occasionally see a snapshot on Instagram, Marco often stays out of the spotlight and prefers to leave showbiz to his wife. The self-employed person is less fond of publicity. He kindly declines an interview request. This means that the role as ‘man of’ fits right in with the handsome hubby. Despite this, he is always there for his wife. He sometimes visits the set with their youngest son Bobby and dresses up as a true musical star as the opposite of his lovely wife. He has already played quite a few roles. “I was already André Hazes, Tarzan and Frits Sissing,” says Marco. Man flu
Yet the man in question also seems to occasionally suffer from the ‘man flu’. Of course, we don’t tar all men with the same brush, but the man flu is a phenomenon that many women recognize in their husbands. This includes Chantal Janzen, who writes in &C that her husband Marco also seems to have it a little bit harder when he catches the flu.
“As soon as Marco is ill, we start with the playlist for the funeral,” Chantal jokes in the magazine. “There’s something wrong with me, isn’t there?” he says, in such a conspiratorial tone. ‘Yes,’ is usually my answer. (…) ‘You have the flu, honey.’ Something that is usually answered with a deep sigh.” Yet this behavior does not come completely out of the blue for Chantal. “He just always thinks he will gain something from it, perhaps fueled by a severe burnout in the past.”
Fortunately, Marco – like all men with the man flu – recovers after a few days. “After a few days, he too was miraculously healed, without a persistent cough or fiery red head due to a continuous body temperature of 40 degrees,” says Chantal. Ha!
