We had to wait a long time for it, but today it finally came into view again: Máxima’s gray sequin top.
The Queen was present this morning at the closing of the thirteenth edition of the Week of Money in the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam. From March 11 to 15, thousands of schools in primary education, secondary education and vocational education are committed to teaching children and young people the importance of managing money properly. This year’s theme was ‘How do you BOSS your MONEY?’. The Minister for Poverty Policy, Participation and Pensions, Carola Schouten, was also present.
Fashion
I already said it in the intro above: eleven years after the debut, Máxima is wearing her gray sequin top again. Unfortunately, almost all the photographers were in Vietnam or Princess Beatrix in Utrecht, but Josee Zwaga was there. She emailed me the photos below, for which many thanks!

Inside, the top came into even better focus.

From a distance, the gray top may look a bit sober and modest, but if you zoom in on the neckline you will see rich embroidery in the form of hundreds of towers of beads and sequins. Brodeuse Monique van Munster explains the embroidery process for us: ‘What we see here is real painstaking work. The process goes as follows: first string on the bottom sequin. Then build the tower by passing the needle through at least ten sequins and end with a bead. Then insert the needle back through all the sequins and finish with a confirming stitch.’

The gray relevé (hat with folded brim) is Máxima’s favorite and was worn out for the fourteenth time today.
