Did not sleep well? This way you make the best of your day

Everyone has had a bad night’s sleep. Whether it’s due to an all-nighter, insomnia or basically any other reason; it’s not nice. During the day it often seems like you have a hangover, while the night before you were just drinking alcohol. To make the best of your day after a night of poor sleep, we have listed a number of tips for you to achieve this.

This is how you make the best of your day after a night of poor sleep

It seems almost impossible: still enjoy your day to the fullest while feeling extremely bad. There’s nothing like a real hangover and it seems like your whole world has been turned upside down. A good night’s sleep is very important, not only in the long term, but also in the short term. Although we would prefer to sleep eight hours straight every night, that often doesn’t seem to work. With these tips you can still have a nice day after a bad night’s sleep.

Be careful with coffee

Although you might think that coffee (or caffeine) is the best way to stay awake, it is not the healthiest or smartest solution. Coffee and caffeine – in addition to many advantages – also have a number of disadvantages. This plus a bad night’s sleep is a real nightmare, so be careful with your coffee intake after a bad night’s sleep. One or two cups is actually enough.

Take a nap, but as early as possible

Anyone who thinks naps are bad during the day is in luck; naps are very important after a night of poor sleep. It is good to know to take this moment of rest as early as possible. Preferably for lunch. The later you do this in the day, the more influence it will have on the next night. Late afternoon naps disrupt your nighttime rhythm even more and that is precisely what we are trying to prevent. Oh, and don’t let this nap turn into six hours of sleep. Closing your eyes for twenty minutes is enough for your brain to relax.

Go outside and take a (short) walk

You probably don’t feel like going for a walk when you’re exhausted. You prefer to lie in your bed or on the couch, but that’s not what makes you feel better. The fresh air and a little exercise make you more alert and make you feel a lot better. And let’s be honest, when hasn’t a little fresh air done wonders for you?

Try to go to bed earlier

But also choose not to let yourself sleep in the next day. Going to bed earlier is nice and restful, but if you stay in your nest longer the next day, then nothing will happen to that sleep rhythm. If you go to bed an hour earlier, you can catch up on some sleep, but don’t linger too long. Tomorrow is another day and hopefully you will feel a lot more rested.
