The two princesses clearly have a strong bond!
Yesterday was Mother’s Day, of course, and all of the Netherlands made breakfast in bed, took their mothers out, or let the power women in their lives know in some other way how much they care. This also applies to Princess Mabel, who not only put her own mother, Florence, in the spotlight, but also her mother-in-law, Princess Beatrix!
Memories
Princess Mabel shared a sweet photo via Instagram from March this year, when she attended the Prince Friso Engineering Prize together with Florence and Princess Beatrix.

This prize is named after the late Prince Friso, the second son of Princess Beatrix. During his life he was active as a mechanical and aerospace engineer. Although many of the younger generations have not lived to see the prince, Mabel does not mind, she stated at the time. She likes to talk about her deceased husband. “I do that with love, I think he would have only liked that,” said Mabel.
mothers Day
Although this ceremony already took place in March, Mabel was already thinking ahead to Mother’s Day. While posing for the cameras, she joked: “I’ll have something fun for Mother’s Day!” Ha!
Beatrix will probably no longer be surprised by a craft project, she must have had enough of those in the past from her (grand)children. Hubby Prince Claus has always spoken lovingly about Beatrix. “I think we can say that she is a very good mother,” he said in an interview in 1988. “She guided the boys through school. I didn’t do anything about that. She always went to the parents’ evenings and talked to the teachers. She is the core of the family,” he added.
It is generally known that Beatrix and Mabel get along great together. The two regularly appear side by side at all kinds of events, such as the inauguration of King Willem-Alexander. Then the ladies walked right behind the princesses towards the Nieuwe Kerk.
Animal love
Beatrix also brings new family members into the family. In addition to family love, Beatrix also has a great love for four-legged friends. She shares a love of equestrian sports with Crown Princess Amalia, but is now also crazy about the royal hedgehogs.
In previously shared videos, the Royal House showed how Beatrix, wearing a towel and gardening gloves, released the adopted hedgehogs into nature. The spiky animals will guard the estate around Drakensteyn Castle.
