The princess makes herself heard for the first time in months.
Princess Kate has taken some peace and quiet after the devastating revelation that she has been diagnosed with a form of cancer. For a long time it was uncertain when and how she would be seen again at royal affairs. Now more is clear, thanks to Catherine herself!
Absent
Since her cancer diagnosis, Kate has hardly been spotted in public. Projects that were carried out in her name should not be seen as a sign that the Princess of Wales was taking up her duties again, Kensington Palace recently shared. But now the princess has made herself heard for the first time since her video message.
Emotional message
Via their official Instagram account, the Prince and Princess of Wales shared a beautiful new photo of the princess, taken this year by photographer Matt Porteous.

“I have been blown away by all the sweet messages of support and encouragement over the past few months,” Kate begins her message. “It really made a world of difference for William and me, and helped us through the tougher times.”
Although there is “good progress” in her treatment, Kate writes that there are always “good days and bad days.” “On those bad days you feel weak, tired, and you have to give in to your body that needs rest,” she shares in the unprecedentedly candid message.
Good news
Although Kate’s treatment will continue in the coming months, she writes that it brings her great pleasure to be involved in the school life of her offspring, and small amounts of work from home.
But guess what? She is also eager to appear in public again!
“I’m looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family, and hope to join some other public appearances over the summer, but I know I’m not out of the woods yet” , the princess reveals.
And that means that Middleton will make her first public appearance of this year tomorrow!
Patience
Kate also writes in her message: “I am learning to be patient, especially when it comes to uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much-needed time to heal.”
She ends her story with the words: “Thank you for your continued understanding, and for everyone who so bravely shared their stories with me.”
She simply signs the message with her initial ‘C’.
That the princess dares to be so vulnerable is of course extremely admirable. Hopefully she can enjoy the big holiday a bit tomorrow!
