What is matcha?
Matcha is a green tea from Japan, made from steamed and dried tea leaves. The green, ground powder is whipped with water and can be drunk pure, but also with milk. Unlike green tea, where you drink the broth of tea leaves, with matcha you actually drink the leaves. That is why it has such a strong taste. The amount of caffeine in a cup may scare you off, but it is not as bad as you think. The caffeine works in a different way than in coffee and has various health benefits. For example, it has a calming effect, but it is also good for your figure! Drinking cocktails while you are working on your health… Who would have thought?
Time for cocktails
We love cocktails. And, we love matcha. Why not combine the two then? We already know the Espresso Martini, so the Matcha Martini should be just as tasty! In addition, this cocktail is not only very tasty, its green color also makes it look beautiful. We have found a recipe that we are now going to share with you.
Recipe for Matcha Martini
This is what you need:
- About 75 milliliters of matcha
- 30 milliliters vodka
- 15 milliliters white chocolate liqueur
- A generous dash of simple syrup (sugar and water)
- Some matcha powder for garnish
How to make the Matcha Martini:
- First things first, prepare the matcha. Take the matcha powder and stir it loose in some water. If you have a special matcha whisk, you can of course use that. Don’t have one? Then a small whisk will also work.
- For the next step, put the matcha in a cocktail shaker together with some ice cubes. Add the vodka, syrup and white chocolate liqueur.
- Shake this well and then pour it into a nice, aesthetic glass. Then top it off with matcha powder as a garnish and drink! Cheers!
