Princely education: how are Jacques and Gabriella doing?

“She has such a mischievous twinkle in her eye!”, reveals the proud father.

While many royal houses today opt for a do-it-all approach to their offspring, and keep their youngest out of the spotlight as much as possible, things are a bit different in Monaco. For example, the young twins Jacques and Gabriella regularly appear next to their parents at official occasions. How do Albert and Charlene actually arrange this, in terms of upbringing?

Twins

In an interview with Hello Monaco last year, Prince Albert explained how the princely couple raise their twins. At the time, he shared that Leurs Altesses Sérénissimes were fairly laid-back parents. “Jacques and Gabriella have never been very loud. I let them blossom and open up to the world,” said the prince.

Together with Charlene, he is of course always there for his offspring, but they don’t have to be really strict, he explained. “They are very cheerful, very curious, and quite easy going. Charlene and I really don’t have to scold them very often.”

Naughty

In an interview with People, the prince hinted that the twins are now really starting to develop their own little characters. “Between the two, Jacques talks more and is more involved in public,” he revealed. “Gabriella sometimes doesn’t feel comfortable around large groups of people.” Fortunately, the princess can count on her brother’s support at moments like this, according to the proud father.

Behind the scenes, however, Gabriella is said to be a lively personality. Albert shared: “She has such a mischievous twinkle in her eye. She has her own personality and sometimes does things that, you know, she tries to use her brother to get him into trouble.” Ha! That promises something for the future, when the little twins grow up into an adolescent princely duo.

In a recent interview with Paris Match, the Serene monarch revealed: “They are very close to each other. They both understand the special role they will play and the obligations that come with it.” Although it may seem as if the royal duties are being taught at a young age, it is not so bad. “I don’t think too much about that aspect, so as not to put too much pressure on them,” said the princely dad.

Involved father

In addition to prince and husband, Albert is clearly involved in the ins and outs of his offspring. For example, we probably see Gabriella and Jacques most often of all the young royals. From sports competitions to charity and from wildlife to wild animals: Jacques and Gabriella are regularly involved!
