Timor Steffens was born in Roermond, Limburg. At the age of six he moved to Rotterdam. Timor has a sister named Tabaia and he was raised by his mother alone.
Youth
Timor grew up in Rotterdam with his mother and sister Tabaia. He studied hairdressing and electrical engineering, but he did not finish either study. At the age of eighteen, he discovered his passion for dancing and joined the Rotterdam Dance Academy. A few years later, in 2008, he participated in So You Think You Can Dance. He came second, but jury member Dan Karaty was completely taken with Timor. Because of this, he was allowed to go to the United States, just like the winner of the program, to make a name for himself in the dance world.
Career
In 2009, Timor Steffens was granted a work visa in the United States. This allowed him to continue working in the country until 2011, as he had landed a very big job. He was allowed to dance for Michael Jackson’s This is it concert series in London. This was supposed to last until March 2010. Due to the death of Michael Jackson in June 2009, the concert series never took place. In July 2009, Timor danced with the other dancers who were supposed to dance with Jackson, during the memorial service for the world-famous singer. Steffens can be seen in the This is it film as a background dancer during rehearsals.
In 2010, Timor worked with Jermaine Jackson on the SBS program Move Like Michael Jackson. After that, he also danced as a background dancer in the film Burlesque with Christina Aguilera and Cher. He was also the face of shoe brand PRO for half a year.
In 2011, Timor again became a member of a dance team for a big pop star, Chris Brown. He danced during performances and in video clips. After that, Timor became a jury member on the program Beat the Best and became creative director on The Voice of Italy. From 2015 to 2019, Steffens was a jury member on Dance Dance Dance. After that, he became a jury member on DanceSing.
This year, Timor will be seen on our televisions again. He will be participating in the 24th season of Expeditie Robinson.
