This way you save money on your heating

Do you have the feeling that your heating is on very often, but it is still very cold? That could be because it needs a freshening up. This way you save money on heating.

Filth

Over time, dust, dirt and dirty particles can collect in your heater. This can reduce efficiency, making it harder for your furnace to warm your home. Your energy bill then shoots up because it heats less well.

Clean heating

Fortunately, cleaning doesn’t have to be a difficult job. All you need is a vacuum cleaner with a narrow suction mouth, or attachment intended for small corners. You also need a damp cloth.

  1. Turn off the heating and let it cool down thoroughly before you start.
  2. Then start by gently vacuuming the outside of the radiator. All ridges must be dust-free before you start the next step.
  3. Now that you have removed the surface dust, you can start on the inside of the stove. You will notice that large bales of dust are hiding in the radiator, which you can vacuum up with ease. You can possibly push down the excess parts that you cannot reach with an interdental brush or a thin and elongated object, so that they can also be passed through the vacuum cleaner.
  4. Now that everything is largely dust-free, you can wipe the inside with a wet cloth. Of course only what you can reach yourself, but that is exactly what you can see. Once this is cleaned, you can do the outside. This way you will no longer see any dust residue.
  5. A little warm water and a cloth is enough. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents to clean your radiator: this releases gases that are released when the stove is heated. You can also cause damage to the varnish or paint with cleaning products.
  6. Repeat this entire process to keep the heater running properly.

Panty to the rescue

Do you have any old or damaged pantyhose lying around? Now is the time to use it! We understand that you often cannot reach the back or inside of the radiator, because it may be too close to the wall. There is a simple solution for this: By placing the pantyhose behind the heater and moving it back and forth a few times, you create a kind of dust magnet. Within a few seconds the radiator is dust-free, which means it is even more thoroughly clean!
