Every now and then we need a moment to rest halfway through the day. Taking an afternoon nap is nice, or sometimes it is very nice to just lie down for a while. Still, we don’t recommend sitting and lying in your bed during the day, and here’s why.
It’s bad for your sleep rhythm
When you sit or lie down in bed during the day to do other things, your brain will associate your bed with being awake. This makes it not convenient to work, read or watch TV in bed. It is best to associate your bed with only two things: sleeping and intimacy. This will probably make it easier and faster for you to fall asleep in the evening. Placing your head on your pillow is and remains the signal to your brain that you are going to sleep. If you do this during the day without the intention of going to sleep, your brain will become slightly confused.
It is also indirectly bad for your productivity
When your sleep schedule is affected, your productivity is also affected. Of course, it is not good for your motivation if you are constantly tired. Working in your bed is certainly not a good idea. You literally take your work to bed with you. We would also advise against working in your bed for your posture. Sitting on your bed with your laptop will probably cause you to sit forward rather uncomfortably. This is not good for your back and only makes work more annoying. A good office chair is therefore much better.
It’s not that hygienic
We assume that on a normal day you don’t walk around in your pajamas all day. You wear your normal clothes that you also wear outside. Wearing this clothing in your bed is not very clean. Outside you come into contact with all kinds of dirt that you now take with you under your covers. Your bed is a place where you are sometimes naked, so it is not a very nice idea if there is all kinds of dirt in it. Therefore, make it a habit to lie in bed alone in clothes you could sleep in. Because you now add an extra step to the routine, it becomes a lot less tempting to lie in bed in the afternoon.
