The weekends are all about sports!
Former England rugby union star and son-in-law of Princess Anne, Mike Tindall, gives a glimpse into the family life of him, his wife Zara Tindall and their three children. According to Mike, their family life is not even that exciting, after all, they are just people too!
Family life
A new business, a podcast hit, occasional appearances alongside their royal family members and top sport: Mike and his wife Zara combine it all with their family life. “We are no different from other parents and our weekends are all about the children and their sports. It’s a mix of rugby, hockey, swimming, gymnastics,” Mike recently told HELLO! Magazine.
Sporty family
Sport means a lot to Mike and his wife. They both play sports at a high level: Mike played rugby in the past, and Zara still rides horses to this day. She even won an Olympic medal! “I think sports give kids so much, whether it’s learning how to be a team member or determination. It has given Zara and me so much that we want to expose them to as many sports as possible,” says Mike.
In the footsteps of father and mother
Although they both love sports very much and think it is important to pass this on to their children, they have never tried each other’s sports. Zara has never played rugby, and Mike, in turn, has little interest in equestrian sports. According to Mike, the two would also have a fight if he were to take riding lessons from Zara. “I would probably be a difficult student,” he admits. The children, on the other hand, have practiced the sport, and Zara regularly goes horse riding with the kids.
In addition to horse riding, his two eldest kids are also following in Mike’s footsteps. “Mia and Lena both go to the Rugby Club on Sundays. They are only nine and four, so we have to give them some time before the pressure comes on. But both love all sports, so they also play rugby,” he said earlier.
