Wow! Nick Schilder is in the American hit list with single ‘Realize’: “never thought”

Since Nick & Simon’s break up, Nick Schilder has not been sitting still. It was immediately clear that he would continue as a solo artist. And Nick does that with passion! His singles are continuously played on popular radio stations in the Netherlands, but apparently also beyond the borders of our little country. His single Realize is currently also in an American hit list. Wait, what?

Nick Schilder with single in American hit list

For fans of Nick & Simon, a sad moment arose in 2023, when the duo performed their very last concerts in Ahoy Rotterdam. After seventeen years, the popular singing duo ended their collaboration, but this did not mean an end to their singing careers. In any case, Nick Schilder immediately had plans in mind. He actually started working on that in no time and it works like a charm. He immediately scored a radio hit with his debut single Shatterproof and his second single Realize also did very well on Dutch radio. When promoting his own music, Nick often speaks in English on social media. It is therefore immediately clear that he does have ambitions for an international career. And the English-language promotion is apparently paying off.

Nick announced via Instagram that his song Realize has now entered an American hit list. OMG! What? This is the ‘Angrybaby Remix’ of his song and this version is currently at number 86 in the US Dance Chart. Wow! In the Instagram post, Nick responds: “Whaaaat? I never thought I’d see my name in an American hit list.” But of course he remains the down-to-earth Volendammer and does not expect big things right away, he later tells RTL Boulevard. “There’s no way I’m getting to do the SuperBowl half-time show right now.”

“Nick Painter”

Nevertheless, Nick is very happy with his position in the American hit list. “It’s nice that you at least notice that there is a good response,” he says. He had already realized that before, he told Shownieuws earlier. Apparently interest has also been shown from Belgium, but also Romania and Italy. “It’s just fun facts that this is happening,” he said at the time. “It would be nice to do a promotion there or a small show, we’ll see.” However, he does need a proper corruption of his name, so that he can properly introduce himself abroad. That’s why he called himself “Nick Sjilder” in his own promotional video, but this got a lot of laughs on TikTok. “I find it a bit uncomfortable,” he admits to Boulevard. He has of course been known as Nick Schilder for years and suddenly it becomes ‘Sjilder’. It doesn’t help that people joke about this. “Every time I do that, it goes completely viral. I get nothing but negative reactions,” he says. Hm, and what does he think of Nick Painter, for example? Nick has his doubts about that. “Nick Painter? Nah, I don’t know,” he says, laughing. “I don’t find that very catchy or anything.”

New music

So he still has to think about a good international stage name. Or he just sticks to Nick Schilder and the English corruption ‘Nick Sjilder’. Going viral does help with extra promotion, right? In the meantime, Nick will continue to release music. His new single Whenever has been available since Friday, March 8, and the new single Dancin’ Alone will follow on March 29. The latter promises another radio hit. Also an autobiographical song, but one that fits the coming spring months. “It’s the most optimistic song yet,” said Nick.

That song has not yet been released, but you can already listen to his American hit single Realize (Angrybaby Remix) and latest single Whenever:
