I received a nice question about last night via the email form. Because where do the Oranges actually sleep? Will they drive two hours to Emmen tomorrow morning or will they make a stopover?
Nothing has been released yet about a possible overnight stay, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there are some more snapshots later today. On a distant King’s Day, the Oranjes opt for a hotel stay. In 2018 they slept in Groningen and on King’s Day 2022, a few rooms were booked in the Van der Valk along the A2 near Maastricht. The photo below was also taken there. The evening before his birthday, the king drank a glass of wine at the bar, as evidenced by the videos distributed on social media.
A suite was booked in the Kruisherenhotel Maastricht for the introductory visit to the provinces of Limburg and Brabant (June 2013). Here we see the royal couple in the lobby, together with the owners.
I don’t know where they slept on the eve of King’s Day 2016. Does anyone perhaps recognize the background?
In 2017 they went to Tilburg by train. In 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2023, they also slept at home, as evidenced by the family photos at Huis ten Bosch Palace. Tomorrow, because of the distance, I expect a snapshot of the royal couple in a hotel lobby. Keep you posted!
