It is only a small effort: just run the watering can over your plants. Yet it is not as simple as it sounds for everyone. Before you know it, all the ‘green’ in your house has lost its green color and gravity is working very well. Recognizable? Then purchase these plants, as they can do well with little water.
Crassula Ovata
Needs water 1 to 2 times a month
It’s quite a mouthful: the Crassula Ovata. The succulent plant stores the water you give it in its leaves and can therefore cope well with drought. In fact, if you give this plant too much water, the roots will rot. Ideal for people who forget to water.
Pothos
Needs water twice a month
In the wild, this leafy plant can grow up to 40 meters long, but the plant can also grow several centimeters in your living room. Do you hang it from your ceiling? Then it may well end up hitting the ground.
Handy: do you ever forget to water this plant? Then your Pothos will slowly wilt. Fortunately, you can stop this process by thoroughly soaking your plant in water and removing the dead leaves.
Palm tree
Needs water once a month
The word tree in this case is a bit misleading. This is not about the palm tree as you see in Hawaii, but about the palm tree species Howea forsteriana, Rhapis Excelsa and Chamaedore alegans. A ‘normal’ palm tree can also look nice in your living room, but in general the aforementioned species are more suitable as a houseplant.
Orchid
Needs water 1 to 2 times a month
They seem like such delicate flowers, and they are, but orchids are not nearly as difficult to care for as you might think. Make sure the plants are not in direct sunlight and give them a little water once or twice a month. After 8-10 weeks the flowers fall off, but that’s how it should be. Be patient and the flowers will reappear on their own.
Sansevieria
Needs water 1 to 2 times a month
This white and yellow striped plant is called Sansevieria, but is also called Lady’s Tongue because of its lance-shaped leaves.
Peace lily
Needs almost no water
We’re not even going to get started on the official name of this plant (Spathiphyllum wallisii), so we’ll just stick with its nickname: the peace lily. This plant hardly needs water and when it craves a drop of water, it will let you know. Its leaves droop when it needs water.
