After quite a bit of bad luck, doubts set in.
In Echte Gooische Moeders we followed Florine Hofstee in her Ibiza adventure. Living on the Spanish island was her greatest dream, but now it appears to be less idyllic than expected. The reality star tells Vriendin that she has increasingly doubted her future in Ibiza.
Setbacks
After a long time of hesitation, Florine made the decision two years ago: she and her family moved to Ibiza to partly live there. But while everything at first looked like what she had always dreamed of, a period of considerable setbacks followed. “We recently spent a few months in Ibiza and during that period we had continuous bad luck,” Florine tells Vriendin. “Both children were very ill for a few weeks: spitting up, everything. Then our washing machine broke down and we also totaled one of our cars.”
Doubts
The setbacks resulted in a lot of doubts about her future on the island. “Suddenly we only saw the disadvantages of living in Ibiza. Not the dream we had in mind.” Still, Florine and husband Jeroen decided to give Ibiza another chance. “In the end we decided to keep our house in Ibiza. We decided to spend more time and more time in the Netherlands.”
Children
The fact that Florine does not yet feel completely at home in her house in Ibiza also plays a role. “We now live in a nice house. It is in a very nice spot with a beautiful view. But the house itself is not really my thing.” With a view to her sons, the Real Gooische Mother sees a future in Ibiza again. “I find primary schools in the Netherlands so strict. By default, your child must be in the circle at a quarter to nine. They want that in Ibiza too, but if you arrive at nine o’clock, that’s fine too. If you want to go to the Netherlands for a weekend, it is fine if you pick up your child from school after Friday morning.”
