We will already reveal: it is almost forty times as much as we pay in tuition fees in the Netherlands.
At the beginning of this week, the Belgian court announced grand future plans for Princess Elisabeth. She will soon move to Boston to obtain a master’s degree in Public Policy from Harvard University. Now of course we know that we don’t have to worry about the Crown Princess’s budget, but we are still curious: how much should a two-year study at Harvard cost?
Study
After obtaining her International Baccalaureate from the same prestigious boarding school from which our own Alexia graduated, Elisabeth threw herself into military training. She then started a bachelor’s degree at Oxford’s Lincoln College. And the princess is apparently not tired of studying yet, because the Belgian court recently announced that it won’t be long before she leaves for Boston to join Harvard University.

Now we know that Harvard is not the least university. In fact, the prestigious academy only seems to produce millionaires, presidents and Olympians. Barack Obama, Bill Gates, John F. Kennedy; it’s just a sample of the names of people who graduated from Harvard. The bar is therefore high for Elisabeth, although the princess will not experience much of this. After all, her future is almost certain.
Cost
You understand that a place at a university like Harvard is not free. For one year you pay no less than 90,000 euros per year. Elisabeth will stay for two years, so a quick calculation shows us that the princess has to cough up just under two hundred thousand euros for her stay at the university. For comparison: the average tuition fee we pay in the Netherlands at a university or college is 2,314 euros. Courses with the characteristic ‘small-scale and intensive education’ may charge a maximum of five times as much, but even that is not close to the amount that Harvard University demands from students.
We should also mention that the 90,000 euros includes accommodation costs. Although we suspect that these will be slightly higher for the princess and her security. Well, you have to give something to be on the same campus as the Obamas!
